Iatrogenic vascular injuries are unusual complications

چکیده
of lumbar disc surgery. Their incidence is very low but because clinical manifestations may be extremely variable depending on the extension of trauma, is probably underestimated (1-4). Vascular injury is suspected when early signs of retroperitoneal hemorrhage appear, but may often be delayed for weeks or years due to the formation of a pseudoaneurysm or arteriovenous fistula, which may be of gradual onset and give rise to few initial symptoms. Prompt diagnosis and aggressive treatment can improve the current mortality rate of more than 50% (1-3). We describe one case of acute hemorrhage and aortic pseudoaneurysm caused by lumbar disc surgery in a young man.

Multidetector CT imaging of complications after laparoscopic nephron-sparing surgery
PURPOSE Laparoscopic nephron-sparing surgery (L-NSS) is increasingly performed to treat localised renal lesions. However, the associated morbidity is non-negligible, with a rate of major complications approaching 10 %. METHODS AND RESULTS This paper provides an overview of indications, surgical techniques and results of L-NSS; explains the incidence, risk factors and manifestations of postope...
متن کاملNon-trocar related major retroperitoneal bleeding during laparoscopic appendectomy
Most of the reported vascular injuries in laparoscopic appendectomies occur during trocar or Veress needle insertions. As laparoscopy continues to evolve, it is essential that surgeons report unusual complications in an effort to raise awareness and guide management of any iatrogenic injury incurred during minimally-invasive procedures. We report the case of a patient who sustained a major non-...
متن کاملIatrogenic Vascular Injuries Due to Spinal Surgeries: Endovascular Perspective.
AIM Iatrogenic vascular injuries due to spinal surgeries are rare but serious complications. Surgical management of these injuries is challenging with high morbidity rates. In this study we aim to present the results of endovascular management of iatrogenic vascular injuries due to spinal surgeries. MATERIAL AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 11 patients (5 male, 6 female) who had vascul...
متن کاملMajor vascular injuries complicating knee arthroscopy
Starting with a case report, we made a detailed review of the literature, with the purpose of identifying and analyzing the type of iatrogenic vascular lesion following knee arthroscopy and the method of vascular repair. A PubMed literature search was undertaken to locate all reported cases of major vascular iatrogenic injuries during arthroscopic knee procedures. We identified 39 papers which ...
متن کاملEmbolisation for Major Iatrogenic Renal Vascular Injuries
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of renal angiography and transarterial embolisation in the management of major iatrogenic renal vascular injuries. Patients and Methods: Records of 9 patients with major renal vascular complications (pseudoaneurysm or arteriovenous fistula) after percutaneous renal procedures were reviewed. They were investigated with digital subtraction angiography followed ...
